About Starter Edition

  • An OS designed to make PC ownership more affordable to millions of people.

Addressing digital divide challenges, as well as helping individuals, communities, and nations realize their potential through improved access to technology, is the inspiration behind Windows Starter 2007 Beta. It is currently in the test phase and we are trying to test it in collaboration with Governments, industry partners, and potential customers. Windows Starter 2007 Beta offers beginner PC users a more affordable operating system that incorporates the basic features they need.

  • Tailored for consumers in developing countries

Windows Starter 2007 Beta offers a significant level of localization and customization for beginner PC users. Many aspects of the product, from its interface and commands, to support and step-by-step tutorials were created in the native language of the developing country in which it will be offered. For India, this product will be multilingual. For many non-English speakers, this will be their first meaningful PC experience in which they can do the tasks that much of the world takes for granted, such as send email, create documents, and browse the Internet.
