24. What can cause Windows Vista Starter to start in safe mode?
Your computer might automatically start in safe mode for one of the following reasons:
Your computer’s processor is not supported in Windows Vista Starter.
Windows Vista Starter works only with certain types of central processing units (CPUs), or processors. If you installed Windows Vista Starter on a computer with an unsupported processor or replaced your processor with an unsupported one, you will see an error message and then your computer will restart in safe mode. To learn which processors are supported, see which processors can run Windows Vista Starter?
If your computer’s processor is supposed to work with Windows Vista Starter, but your computer starts in safe mode anyway, try using System Restore to restore your computer’s system files to a previous state.
If no updates are available or the problem continues after installing updates, contact your computer manufacturer for assistance.
Software updates installed are causing a problem.
If your computer began starting in safe mode soon after you installed a software update from Windows Update or your computer manufacturer, the update itself might have introduced a problem. Try using System Restore to get your computer’s system files to a previous state. If this doesn’t solve the problem, contact your computer manufacturer for assistance.
A program, service, driver, tampering with the OS files, or a piece of hardware is causing a problem.
If your computer automatically starts in safe mode without prompting, a program, service, driver, or piece of hardware might be preventing Windows from starting normally. You might need to disable or remove software or hardware.
