Project Templates

Working with templates in MS Project

If you often do similar types of projects, you can create project templates with typical project tasks already in place; you can then modify the templates for individual projects.

MS Project comes with a huge range of pre defined templates to help you get started.

In order to save an existing project as template

1. From the File menu choose Save as

2. Under Save as type choose Template (.mpt)

3. Click on Ok

To retrieve a project template

1. From the File menu choose New

2. In the task pane click On computer

3. The general tab will give you list of all custom templates

4. The Project templates tab will give you list of all default templates
