[Guide] Change or Create custom NOGUI boot screen for Windows Vista.

How to enable Vista's NOGUI boot screen?
By default, Vista's NOGUI boot screen is NOT ENABLED. To enable the NOGUI boot screen, you must enable the /NOGUIBOOT option using MSCONFIG . Type msconfig in startsearch, navigate to Boot tab. Check No GUI boot, and click on Apply changes. In next boot, you will see new hi-res NOGUI boot screen.

How to Change or Create custom NOGUI boot screen?

Require:

1.) Vista Boot Logo Generator [Download]
2.) High-res BITMAP images in two different sizes: 800x600 and 1024x768 (Both should be 24-bit colour)
Winload.exe.mui is the file that contain NOGUI boot screen, so before make some changes you have to get permission to mod this one. (C:\Windows\System32\en-US\winload.exe.mui)
How to:
·         Take ownership of Winload.exe.mui by executing these commands with administrative privileges
·         Run Vista Boot Logo Generator with administrative privileges and locate both images by clicking on Browse for images button.
·         Click on File → Save Boot Screen File As to save your custom NOGUI boot screen.

·         This program currently only generates the boot logo file (winload.exe.mui). It is up to you to copy it to the correct location for it to be loaded. In most cases, the correct folder is:
C:\Windows\System32\en-US
One final bit of advice - make sure you back up your original winload.exe.mui (boot logo) file before you go overwriting, just in case you want to return to the original!
