Cant change few settings - System Admin error

i wanted to change the power button action in the start menu from shut down to sleep (i had previously changed it to shut down without any issues) but now i cant get it back to sleep, the problem is that in

ctrl panel->systm maintainance->power options->change plan settings (under balanced or any)->change adv. power settings->power buttons and lid->start menu power button -> shut down ..... now when i try to change this shut down to somehting else i get an error saying that some settings cannot be changed contact system admin ..... i am system admin ;) however snooping around the net to find a solution i came to knwo that this happens if i am a part of a domaim so i went to my computer properties and saw that no domain has been entered but the problem still exists so then i decided to login as administrator (the hidden admin account through secpol.msc) but the same error so i started digging my comp and came here:

right click on computer->properties-> change settings for computer domain etc. there u have network id .... now when u click on network id u get 2 options

1. computer is part of a business domain

2. home computer not part of a domain .... i realised this could be causing the problem so i decided to change it and restarted but the problem is that everytime the machine restarts it is reset to comp is part of a business domain .... how do i change it

i hope i wasnt too confusing

Re: Cant change few settings - System Admin error

There is a hidden Administrator account which is disabled by default in Vista. Enable it from "Computer Management" and then login using it. Now you should be able to change the plan. I'm not sure but it should work.

Re: Cant change few settings - System Admin error

Run Group Policy Editor ( Type gpedit.msc in start search or in Run dialog box)

Perform Navigation: Local Group Policy --> Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System --> Power Management --> Button Settings

Double Click on Select the start menu Power button action (plugged in) and Select Disabled n click on Apply or OK to commit changes.
