Guys, I recently bought a x64 processor (C2D) but the dearth of x64 applications and drivers makes every x64 OS handicapped. Why is this not going mainstream?

Thats true. Not all software/drivers are compatile for x64 bit OS. But I hope in future we'll not face this problem since lots of ppl r moving to x64 platform.

i even installed the x64 vista...but to my horror..my graphics driver for vista told me that it is not vista itself!  later i learnt that it was meant for x86, but atleast it was vista!

Guys don't worry the future of operating systems lies in 64 bit technology only, one day all the operating systems will be shifting to 64 bit only and I think Microsoft has already taken the innitiative. They are slowly shifting all the operating systems to 64 bit.The server editions have already been now exclusively for 64 bit

x64 is the future, sooner or later pople will accept it.  I am on x64 Vista for over two months now, haven't had any issues whatsoever.

If Im not wrong....Vista is tha last 32-bit OS from Microsoft.... I have seen this in a ppt of Windows Roadmap.

Correct ! Even if the x64 OS supports almost all applications, there are very few applications which are Designed for x64 !

I guess x64 will become mainstream only if Windows Stops providing x86 Version and produces only 64 Bit Windows ! But leave x64 AMD is all set to bring 128 Bit (SSE 5)Processors soon
