Hello everyone

I would like to request everyone to not post the full article from other websites/blogs. Most of the sites don't allow their full articles to be posted anywhere, yes, they do allow to post a short excerpt with a link to the original article.

Here at MeraWindows I have noticed many times that members post full articles and then mention the source which is not a good thing and might become problematic if the article author complains about it. Many times a few such authors have complained and we had to remove the article.

So I request you to not post the complete article. If you like the article then pls share it. We always encourage sharing information but don't post the full article. Post a short excerpt with the link so that we can read the full article at original site. Its a gentle way to respect the hard work of the author.

I hope you guys will agree on this.

Thanks.

Original author link is NOT the only thing! Please do NOT copy-paste the whole article.

I wanna tell something merawindows is a growing community and posting full articles makes it easy for the readers to just read it and not to open many links so if the sites frm which the articles are copied dosn't say or have any opposition to just copying the articles then we can post the full article, thats why I asked for the names of the sites which complained so we can keep a note of this and not post their articles as a whole.U may have seen other communities also where articles are copied,I too read Thinkdigit where almost the news are copied fully from the site with long paras and many other forums, hope the mods and the admins would look into it

AFAIK, Copy-pasting the whole Article is not fair under 'Fair use'

http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html

How much of someone else's work can I use without getting permission?
Under the fair use doctrine of the U.S. copyright statute, it is permissible to use limited portions of a work including quotes, for purposes such as commentary, criticism, news reporting, and scholarly reports. There are no legal rules permitting the use of a specific number of words, a certain number of musical notes, or percentage of a work. Whether a particular use qualifies as fair use depends on all the circumstances. See FL 102, Fair Use, and Circular 21, Reproductions of Copyrighted Works by Educators and Librarians.

And leaving aside legal aspect, its also not fair from moral point of view. Its a subject of debate though.

Why people do not like their Full article to be copy-pasted ? They want people to visit their blog/site. So its best to provide a portion of article and provide link to the main article saying "........Continue at Source" OR ' ..........Full Story at source"

Many of us do not know and so they must have done that. As people will learn about it and thus they will follow that Courtesy rule, that's what I think.

Also I will request members not only to provide copy paste part of articles but also read other article links provided by other members on the MW forum thus eliminating duplicates. So provide your articles and also read other articles thread put by other active members.

Bumping this topic again for all members. Please don't post full articles from any other site. Our admin received an email from softpedia complaining that one member was posting full articles from their site which I have removed now.

So please keep this request in mind and only post a small excerpt along with a link to original article.
