Recently I have seen many MeraWindows members adding 'Connect to Me' logo for adding your freinds and other on your member list for connecting with other members and friends on Messenger.

But what members at present are using requires IE and the other person should have Windows Live Messenger installed and logged in, and also this method exposes your your mail ID.

But now you can do this in  a better way , more conveniently. Here's how you can do it.

So how to put a Messenger status icon to your MW signature so that your Forum Readers can chat with you. This IM Status icon will also show your Online Status. And what’s more the reader may not have Windows Live Messenger on his system, that means anyone can chat with you, even a guest can chat with you.

This is made possible by the Windows Live Messenger IM Control which lets people on the Web reach you in Messenger by showing your Messenger status on your web site, blog, or social networking profile. The Windows Live Messenger IM Control runs in the browser and lets site visitors message you without them, installing Messenger.

So let us see how to do this:

1. Go to http://settings.messenger.live.com/applications/websettings.aspx Sign in with your Windows Live ID.

2. Check ‘Allow anyone on the web to see my presence and send me message’, if you want to show your presence to all people including those you might have blocked.

3. Click on ‘Create HTML’ and choose status icon control to display. ( Please note the Button may not work in Merawindows signature, though it will work  if you want to put in your blog, sites supporting JavaScript)

4. And get the code for Status Icon to put in the signature. Pleae note that this is interactive that means if you have logged into your messenger, it will show your status also in this page by status icon turning Green for nline status.

5. Log into merawindows go to Forums> Mysettings option then > User settings > Signature.

And paste the code for the Messenger status icon and update.

So when anyone wants to talk to you and you are online, he will click on the icon to open Messenger Window to chat.

You can also add some Messages like 'Click to Talk, or 'Chat with me' using html code with the status icon , like I have done in my Signature.

That's all Try this and you will know various differences and advantages of using it.

Tthat is normal HTML formatting, just like you have your url in the sig, replace it with whatever text you want and use HTML codes to format it.
