Yeah 1st one is definitely a Goof-up and now I got it correct whet u were trying to say about ur 2nd point.
Actually its not BUG coz as soon as we clear the searchbox, it automatically takes us back to the previous folder, in which we searched. Thats why searchbox is no more active. U can check it by clicking on the Back & forward buttons...

even if u click once on a file (just to select it)

however if u dont selcet anything and then clear the search box it will take u back to the previous folder keeping the cursor in the search box .... bug or no bug as a user it shouldnt be happening coz il tell u how i came across this:

wanted to take control of certain dll files .... searched for 1 took controll then cleared the box and the cursor was no more in the box and i had to click again so now u try doing this for 3-4 files and u will definitely say its a bug :)

OK guys

Its time for another BUG.

1. Right-click on taskbar and select "Toolbars -> Desktop".
2. A new toolbar "Desktop" will be added to taskbar just before System Tray.
3. Right-click on taskbar again and uncheck the option "Lock the Taskbar".
4. Double-click on "Desktop" toolbar placeholder and you'll be amazed to see that all desktop icons are showing in this toolbar even you have disabled mots of them from your desktop.
5. Now try to delete any icon from the toolbar. Cool. You have successfully deleted it but just click on the arrow and you'll be surprised that it has come back.

So 1st BUG:
=========

Why all desktop icons are showing in toolbar irrespective of desktop settings?

2nd BUG:
=======

Why the icons come back after deleting them?

Its the most irritating BUG, I have found.

Now thats an interesting thing, which I found accidentally today.

As we all know "Dialog boxes" don't contain Maximize, Minimize buttons. They only hv "Close" button. And thats why we can't maximize them. If we right-click on the titlebar of a dialog box, we get only 2 options in context menu:

Move
Close

But for my surprise, today when I opened "Browse" dialog box in RUN, I found that it can be maximized even its a dialog box. If u'll double-click on its titlebar, it'll be maximized. (But not fully maximized, the border will be still visible). And also u'll get an option "Maximize" in context menu of titlebar.

So its an interesting thing, which exists in Vista. I think since Browse dialog box looks similar to Windows Explorer and has same properties, thats why it can be maximized irrespective of other dialog boxes.

PS: It happens for all Browse/Save/Open dialog boxes in all windows applications, like Notepad, etc.

One more interesting thing.

Open regedit and goto:

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Now u'll see in right-side pane that Microsoft wants to tell u something.

There will be a String value with the name "!Do not use this registry key and its value will be:

"Use the SHGetFolderPath or SHGetKnownFolderPath function instead"

I think its a thing, which Microsoft wants to tell s/w developers.

[Edit]

Well guys. I found this, which contains interesting info why this key was put into registry:

2 Goof-ups in Windows Classic Theme of Vista:

1. Change the theme of your Windows Vista to "Windows Classic".
2. Open My Computer and look carefully at the "Back" and "Forward" buttons in Toolbar!

3. Now hover ur mouse to "Little Down Arrow" just after the "Forward" button.

What u see?

A. First thing is that the Back & Forward button are a little bit far from background image. They should be placed at 1 or 2 pixels less from left.

B. When we hover the mouse at "Little Down Arrow", the background image is mis-placed from its actual position and a little curve is displayed just before the addressbar.

These are very small issues and not very noticeable.

PS: Try it urself and u can understand what I'm talking about or just save the images at ur computer and look at them one by one.

And now the biggest goof-up.

Open Windows Explorer in Windows Classic theme and guess what? The "Up" button will not be visible (it should be there just after the "Forward" button). But if u'll move ur mouse at that place u can see the tool tip "Recent Pages".

So the button is there but is not visible. A BIG goof-up. And if u look carefully, the buttons "Back" and "Forward" are correctly placed in this condition but as soon as u'll open any drive or anything, they will be mis-placed.

Now another irritating BUG and yeah its a BUG for sure!

1. Open My Computer and make sure that "Favorite Links" are showing in left side pane (Navigation pane). If its not enabled then u can enable it from "Organize -> Layout -> Navigation pane".

2. Close My Computer.

3. Now open "Windows Explorer" from Start menu.

4. It'll show "Folders List" instead of "Favorite Links" in Navigation pane. Thats cool since its Windows Explorer it should display Folders list.

5. Now close Windows Explorer and again open My Computer.

6. Guess what? The Navigation pane will show "Folders List" in left pane instead of previously selected "Favorite Links".

So the conclusion is this:

If you select "Favorite Links" to be shown in My Computer and open Windows Explorer, it'll overwrite your settings for "Navigation pane" and will force My Computer to show "Folders List".

So Windows Explorer overwrites My Computer's "Navigation pane" settings. How can I save my settings for "Navigation pane" in My Computer?

It seems that in Vista "My Computer" and "Windows Explorer" are no longer different as they were in previous versions of Windows. In XP, My Computer doesnt show "Folders List" in left pane but Windows Explorer shows and in Vista both My Computer and Windows Explorer show "Navigation pane". Thats why the above BUG exists!!!

NOTE:
=====

I noticed one more thing! If you set to show both "Favorite Links" and "Folders List" in "Navigation Pane", then no problem occurs. Both My Computer and Windows Explorer show both things. But if you set only "Favorite Links" to show in My Computer and open Windows Explorer, it'll automatically overwrite your settings for Navigation Pane in My Computer and My Computer will start showing both things...

1. Right-click on My Computer icon on Desktop and select "Properties".
2. Now move the cursor at the location pointed in the following screenshot:

What u see? The mouse cursor will show "Hand" pointer like there is a link.
The reason behind it, I think it points to "Change product Key" link, which is surely a goof-up.
