Microsoft to Issue Six Security Updates

Microsoft said today it plans to offer at least six software updates to fix security holes in its Windows operating system and other software.

The Redmond, Wash., campus generally issues updates on the second Tuesday of each month. Each Thursday before "Patch Tuesday," Microsoft publishes a short synopsis of the number of patches it plans to release. Beginning with this month's cycle, however, Microsoft plans to offer a bit more advance information about the updates it expects to push out on Patch Tuesday.

Looking at the expanded version of Microsoft's Security Bulletin Advance Notification for June 2007, it looks like we can expect at least six security vulnerability patch bundles next week, four of which will bear the "critical" rating. Critical flaws are those that can be exploited by criminals without any help on the part of the user, or victim.
