Yes , you can. There are various versions of Vista , so the version suitable will run on your PC .
You can download this tool also to check :
Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor beta
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=65926&clcid=0x409
This small software tool will scan your computer and create an easy-to-understand report of all known system and device compatibility issues, and recommend ways to resolve them. The Upgrade Advisor can also help you choose the edition of Windows Vista that best fits the way you want to use your computer.

Yah I know. But I now have only 256 MB RAM. I got MS Vista Beta DVD yesterday.
As told in it, I downloaded the utility and scanned my computer. It told that I needed 512 MB RAM. Is 512 MB RAM necessary or is it just for getting better perfomence?
Also I have a 40 GB HDD in my system and 4 drives of 9.3 GB each.
Can I install Vista in one of the drives as a dual boot with Windows XP ?

I tried backing down my memory to 256MB in Vista (using VistaBootPRO) and Vista (Ultimate) build 5472 still ran, just slower & less graphics, if i recall correctly.
When i backed the memory down to 200MB Vista would not start

I also have 4 partitions on the test rig w/ Vista x86 & x64 + XP x86 & x64 on it... so i can tell you from experience that you can double boot using XP & Vista.
BTW the HDDs are EIDE type. I've read that RAID & SATA may cause you some driver problems during Vista install if you arent prepared.

Surely it should just RUN. But dont expect some good performance from Vista on 256 MB.

u can check the ati suport site for drivers:
ati.com/support

also, if u have on-board graphics card( of intel 845 only) and only 256mb ram, then i doubt vista will run on ur pc. either upgrade ur pc, or don't waste ur time installing the BETA ver. (in my opinion only)

For Vista, u should hv min. of 512 MB RAM.
SO it'll be better, if u hv at least 1 GB RAM to enjoy it :)

it will run, but not so smooth. the ideal config would be a core 2 duo processor, 1 gb ddr2 667 MHz ram, sata 2 hdd, 256 mb graphics card!!
