As those who have installed Vista Starter, may notice the new water mark in the bottom right hand side of their screen hovering over the build number. This can be found within explorer.exe using a program called ResHacker. The thing I am most courious about, is how this transparent image is displayed. What file or process calls this image to display? When I end task explorer.exe from taskmanager, that image, too, disappears.
The reason why I ask this question is because I would like to see if I can impliment the same thing in other flavours of Vista, such as ultimate, by creating a Vista Ultimate logo and injecting it into explorer.exe using reshacker, replacing the Vista Starter logo. At this time, the Vista Starter logo is the only one in explorer.exe, which is why it is the only one that appears.
I was also courious if this is going to be another branding technique available to OEM purchasers of computers such as Compaq and Dell. In either case, I think it's a neat feature.
