Unable to Play MPG Video file in Media Player 11 
Hi

   My Windows Media Player 11 can't  play MPG Video files. Presently, it is the Default Media Player in my system. I also configured the Media Player Advanced Settings to Defaults. But PowerDVD plays successfully.

Also, Media Player 11 displays an ERROR: Can't play this file. Unknown Format !

I also installed the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility. It says " PowerDVD Decoder is compatible with Media Player 10. It is set as Default Decoder ".

Any suggestions ?

I think its the mpeg2 decoder or DVD decoder is not associated with your wmp11. Was it playing earlier with WMP10?
Try uninstalling PowerDVD and reinstalling it again , The codec may associate. Also get latest DirectX?
Also install another DVD decoder plugin and see.

You can use K-Lite codec pack.It supports all types of formats.The download link for it has been posted in the codecs section.

Hi

   I re-install the Windows Media Player 11 with Latest version (Released: 1/29/2007 ). Now my media player plays normally. I think the latest version eliminates some common errors and bugs.

I suggest everyone to install the Latest Version Media Player 11 from Microsoft.

But when i installed KLM codec then also it was working nicely.
