Live OneCare - a little review 
Live One Care

The antivirus service has only a few options... On... Off... and Exceptions. Only the firewall has more options with the ability to customize apps and data portsmanually, but I prefer automatic since it relies on its own signatures to identify what should have access. This allows the user to safely continue working without annoying, confusing prompts.

The only problem I've encountered is "patched" applications, such as using the Mess Patch on Windows Live Messenger. This is more a fault of Mess Patch for hacking Messenger rather than being an add-on. Aside from that, definitions ane updated daily, and Microsoft has earned 100% detection ratings from the Virus Bulletin certification process.
