32 bit Vista versions will always be limited to 4GB RAM due to limitations of x86 proccy.

Re: Enable support for 4GB of RAM (or more) in Vista 32-bit
Hello folks, I don't mean to dredge up an old thread, but I was wondering if I understood Tanmay and Vasu correctly. I have an Intel mobile chipset gm965 which I have been told only supports 2gb of memory. ( toshiba satellite l45 s7423 ) When I install my 2gbRAM this week, I will not be able to utilize it all without enabling PAE? Or will i still be using the full 2gb but my Vista will only recognize and show the RAM minus what is being used for installed devices with PAE disabled for I have DEP disabled?

Re: Enable support for 4GB of RAM (or more) in Vista 32-bit

in simple words, if your graphics card doesn't share memory with your ram, you will be able to utilise the full 2gb. but afaik, the 965 has Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 which is in my opinion shares memory with your ram because it's inbuilt to your motherboard. you can increase or decrease the shared memory from bios
