Windows Fiji – The Next Version of Windows 
Windows Fiji is the life after Windows Vista. It is official; Microsoft's next version of Windows is Windows Fiji (codename). At the present moment, details regarding Windows Fiji are scarce
to say the least. In fact, nothing has leaked from Microsoft other than the Windows Fiji codename.

One of the first to confirm the Windows Fiji codename was Charlie Owen over at the Windows Media Center development team. At just one week after Windows Vista was released to manufacturing, Owen revealed that the Windows Media Center team had debuted their first milestone for the upcoming version of the operating system.

“One of the guiding principles we will use to determine features for vNext is identifying and removing roadblocks which keep people from using Windows Media Center. One example of this is the new Express Setup you find in 'Diamond'. 'Emerald' and previous versions (version history and codenames) forced the user into a rather lengthy first run setup wizard about 10-14 pages at minimum for most users. By contrast, the new Express Setup in 'Diamond' requires but a single action the first time you launch Windows Media Center before you are instantly able to start using the features,” stated Owen.

Diamond and Emerald are Microsoft codenames for Windows Media Center in Windows Vista and Windows XP Media Center Edition Update Rollup 2. In this context, the codename for Windows Media center in Windows Fiji will be vNext.

Charlie Owen's message about Windows Media Center vNext is tagged under “Fiji | Windows Media Center.”

Windows Fiji is the next version of the Microsoft operating system that will follow Windows Vista on the roar to Windows Vienna (Blackcomb). At this juncture it is not uncertain if Windows Fiji is a codename for windows Vista Service Pack 1 due by the end of 2007 or if it is Windows Vista R2.
