Re: Windows Server 2008 installation currupts HDD's MBR ! [ BUG TRACKING ]

Post your partition's infomation....

C: - Primary....etc....becoz...you hav written F: is extended parition...but extended is not a partition type...its category....So clearify...you are using multiple primary partition or not.

Total 160 GB SATA HDD

C:\    [ Windows XP SP2 Genuine is installed and it is up-to-date - fine. ] - NTFS 40 GB Primary partition

D:\    [ Usefull Stuff, Downloads, Videos, Music, Files... ] - NTFS 40 GB Primary partition

E:\    [ This partition is newly created to install server 2008 ] - NTFS 40 GB Primary partition

F:\    [ Emty space - No partition is created (i.e., No logical drive, No File system) ] - Extended partition

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After restart, the system is blinking... i already backup my XP installation HDD image and restore it from DVD image(using Acronis True Image). Then again tried to install server 2008 by running "setup.exe". Still the blinking --

Re: Windows Server 2008 installation currupts HDD's MBR ! [ BUG TRACKING ]

After installation....Have you prompted for OS selection....like

Earlier version of Windows

Windows Server 2008

If not...check your C: drive contains a system hidden folder named Boot then boot from Windows Server DVD and click on Repair this computer from setup menu... >>  Command Prompt

Navigate to your DVD drive....say...its G: and execute this command.

X:\Sources\>G:\Boot\bootsect /nt60 ALL

Try this. !

I think BitDefender works in Server 2008.
