Method 1 Though Context Menu
Step 1: Right Click the file and press "Add to Archive".
Step 2: In the pop-up window, if you want to compress the file in ZIP, choose ZIP in Archive Format section.
Step 3: Click the "Advanced" tab and then "Set Password" on the middle-right.
Step 4: Input the password. You can check “encrypt file names” below as well, thus, openers will not see the file name.
Step 5: Click "OK", now a RAR or ZIP file is created and password-protected!
Method 2 Through WinRAR Wizard
Step 1: Launch WinRAR program and click on Wizard from Tools menu.
Step 2: On the Wizard: Choose the operation window, select Create a new archive and then click Next.
Step 3: There will pop up a window, just select the file and click OK to add it to the archive.
Step 4: Input an archive name and click Next button.
Step 5: Click Set Password button to enter password, and press OK.
Step 6: Return to the Wizard: Archive option window and just click Finish.
Your password protected RAR archive will be created in your Desktop.

How to repair RAR archive in WinRAR?
Sometimes, when extracting a RAR file with WinRAR, you may encounter an error in CRC or MD5 hash check and the file is failed to open. But getting this error not mean that you can’t extract and use file anymore. As long as the file is complete, you can correct the issue using the WinRAR application itself.
Step 1: Open the WinRAR application. Click on "File" and then "Open Archive" and browse to the damaged RAR file.
Step 2: Press "Alt" + "R" on your keyboard, or go to Repair Archive option from Tools menu. This will bring up the WinRAR repair dialog screen.
Step 3: Specify Desktop as the "Folder to put the repaired archive" box. Check the box that says, "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR."
Step 4: Press the "OK" button. Once it has finished repairing, a rebuilt new archive will be placed on your desktop. Open it to extract a corrupted file.
