Speed up XP startup and shutdown

If someone has tried to speedup XP by disabling appli by opening msconfig and also disabled many unwanted services , but still find it slow bootup, can try these :
They can tweak their BIOS, so that not only XP but any OS it'll speedup,
Enable quick power on self test.
disable boot delay option
disable bootup floppy seek option
Also disable auto detection of hard disk and other optical drives , manualy assign and save the option.

These were some of the BiOS tweaks.

Also in Boot.ini check if its like this : (fast detect)
"Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Also your registry should be clean and should not be bloated with unnecesaary keys. Use a good registry cleaner.

If you are of the type , trying out various application, games then uninstalling , in this process many orphan entries remian in registry , so such orphan entry should be cleaned.

Also try this registry tweak of enabling a boot defragment :
HKLM\software\Microsoft\Dfrg\Bootoptimizefunction
in that Enable to Y

Also check for any spyware/malware that gets loadedup while starting.

Some of the tweks require registry editing , so be careful, backup registry.

Try these. Will be posting speedup shut down later.
