Please help

I installed a system maintenance program and it screwed up my system (Windows XP Home).  Winddows starts up fine but all other programs are opened by NOTEPAD.  I don't have a restore point so i can't undo the installation.

Please help!

Thanks a lot

>As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. Continue to do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.

>In the Windows Adnanced Option menu, select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked.

Re: Please help

Hi!

Thanks a lot for pointing it out for me, though I installed another OS on my drive for me to use my files again before I had the chance to try the solution.  Next time it happens, I'd surely know what to do.  Thanks again for your help.  You're doing such a great job providing mediocre people like me.  More power!

Re: Please help

Hi!

Thanks for the suggestion, though that's the first thing I tried when my system got messed up.  Thanks for welcoming me, too.  I really do enjoy learning loads of stuff from you guys.  Thanks again!  Ciao!!
