We can remove messenger in this way also...Try it

Click [Start] [Run] and in the [Open:] box type or copy/paste the following command
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Click [OK]

Also Windows Live messenger has an entry in 'Add remove programs' .From there also it can be removed.
I think, this tool can ease the removal of messenger which gets installed , while installing XP and otherwise, we have to goto add/remove windows component to uncheck messenger to uninstall.(or uncheck while installing XP itself, so as not to install in the beginning itself)
