Re: WINLOGON.EXE is deadly slowing my system

Hi again, Vishal.

I deleted the line O20 - Winlogon Notify: WgaLogon - WgaLogon.dll (file missing)

The other one (GBPLUGIN\gbieh.dll) seems to be unremovable. I try to delete it with HJT but it comes back every new scan.

The problem still sfects my computer.  Could I ask you to help me again?

Thanks a lot,

Fabio

ps: Thanks for the help with Norton. I'll do it right now.

Re: WINLOGON.EXE is deadly slowing my system

Go to run-> type msconfig -> click on startup -> make sure that winlogon is not a entry there. If winlogon is in the startup tab, then it should be a trojan. If' it's not there, then maybe it's corrupted. To repair it, go to run and type sfc /scannow.

Hi Soumya.

winlogon is not at the startup window on msconfig.

The sfc /scannow is impossible for me because I don't have Windows XP CD.

Re: WINLOGON.EXE is deadly slowing my system

^^ Did you try to delete (GBPLUGIN\gbieh.dll) in Safe Mode? Also try to directly delete this DLL file. To me this file is the real culprit. Also have you uninstalled Norton?

Re: WINLOGON.EXE is deadly slowing my system

Hi Vishal.

Windows do not allow me to delete the file. It says Gbieh.dll is being used by another application. It happens even in Safe Mode.

i have already uninstalled Norton.
