Windows XP SP3 - my review
Hi

Today i installed Windows XP SP3 in my system. The SP3 size is around 332 MB. I slipstreamed SP3 into fresh copy of Windows XP installation disk. The installation is successfull and is same as previous service pack (SP2) installation. Although, i get 2 file missing errors in installation! - it's not a major bug.

My system configuration:
--------------------------------------
AMD Athlon 64 - 1.8 GHz
1 GB of RAM - Kingston
160 GB HDD - Segate SATA
ATI RADEON 7500 - 64 MB
--------------------------------------

After installation, my system is faster than ever! - Then i installed Vista Inspirat 2.

- After SP3 installation, i can not update internet explorer 6 to 7
- Windows Media Player 11 also not installed.
- Windows Live OneCare gives error messages like " ie7 is needed to operate "

After installation of SP3, i ran the Windows Update. Windows Update is slightly changed. They clearly explained about Genuine Advantage - it asks me to install the Genuine Advantage plug-in to download the updates.

The SP3 includes:

- Need not to enter product key on installation
- improved network settings
- fixes driver update bugs
- system mangement console 3.0 is slightly improved.

BUGS in SP3:

- fails to copy some files in Windows XP Clean installation
- some compatability issues with Live Onecare 2.0 BETA (in certain situations only!)
- Unable to Activate Windows on First time system installation! There is only one update available to SP3: Windows Malicious Software removal tool (July Edition)

Re: Windows XP SP3 - my review

Nice , sri !

As you say your XP is faster than before after SP1, is it due to fresh installation as earlier it might have become slow because of of long use or you comapared with earlier fresh installation of SP2?

If its faster then it'll be good.

Which 2 files were missing? Any very noticable feature ?

Its still,  a beta , it'll improve.
