Almost 50% of companies still plan to use Microsoft’s Windows XP operating system when the software giant ends official support in 2014.
The figure comes from Research firm Dimension Consulting which recently surveyed over 950 IT pros about their Windows deployment plans. Around 48% of participants claimed they would continue to use XP even without support. Microsoft plans to withdraw support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014.
47% of the survey respondents said they would ditch Windows XP and upgrade to a newer version of Windows by then. Five percent of respondents said they would use XP with third-party support after official support stops. The IT professionals who plans to upgrade before XP support ends said they would go straight to Windows 7 and planned to avoid Vista.
