Thanks guys for your time!  Well, I checked the links which you have provided.  However, I didn't find any info about which version (32 or 64 bit) those Editions are!  So I guess I will have to take the long route ... buy 32 bit version and then order alternate media for 64 bit version.  In fact this is what the Microsoft Executive suggested me.

I have a query about OEM version.  As mentioned, OEM version is sort of "locked" to one single machine.  So, suppose someone buys a machine with OEM Vista and it goes kaput.  In that case, if warrenty applies to his machine, it should be possible to revive the same license for the new replacement machine he/she gets.  Why should the vendor lose an additional license "and" new hardware?  There should be a possibility to apply old OEM license to a piece of new hardware.

One more point I would like to mention, I think, it's not possible to order alternate media (64 bit) for 32 bit OEM version of any Edition of Vista.

Thanks.
Anand Gham.

Re: Vista 64 bit Versions Availability and Choice.
The 64 bit ver will not do an upgrade but a clean install.
You can also try running Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor.
Also check this for some more info Windows marketplace 64bit upgrade and Windows marketplace Vista upgrade ed.
Also this will be an interesting read : Vista users get the 64-bit blues
So exactly check from the vendor about OEM ver.
